Oelwein Public Library Minutes November 8, 2016
The Oelwein Public Library Board of Trustees held its regular board meeting on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the library.
Present: Ingersoll, Gilson, Kerns, and Berryman. Also Christensen and Macken.
President Berryman called the meeting to order at 5:35.
Gilson made a motion to approve the agenda and the minutes. Seconded by Ingersoll. Motion carried.
Trustee Training: The Library Standards have been updated. The board reviewed how the program works.
- The stained glass windows made by CJMS of Oelwein were installed in the fireplace room. The Friends of the Library paid for the windows. Jake Blitsch suggested installing track lighting so the windows can be seen at night. He will check in to this option.
- The Friend’s meeting will be on November 14.
Bills were reviewed:
- Macken was able to purchase a vacuum at a discounted price of $232 through the library Quill account.
- A check was re-issued to Dairy Queen for the Summer Reading Program Finale treats. Dairy Queen lost the check. Adjustments will be made to the budget.
Gilson made a motion to accept the bills. Seconded by Kerns. Motion carried.
Attic Assessment: Miller Construction has not met with Ingersoll.
Bequest Budget Request for FY2018: Ingersoll made a motion to request a $50,000 appropriation from the Library Bequest Fund. Seconded by Kerns. Motion carried.
Policy Review: Gilson made a motion to accept the Youth Services Job Description as reviewed. Seconded by Ingersoll. Motion carried.
