Join us in welcoming author Linda Betsinger McCann to the library as she gives a program on her newest book "Civilian Conservation Corps of Northeast Iowa"
The Conservation Corps was a federal program that operated from 1933-1942 in all states. Men aged 17-23 years old, who were generally inexperienced, worked in the State Parks of Iowa. The CCC built dams, which formed lakes, lodges, shelters and roads.
They worked planting trees and building terraces to prevent soil erosion.
