The musical Hamilton has recently been taking America by storm. As its story unfolds, audiences learn a lot about Hamilton's personality and his private life, but while we see him debating fiscal policy with Thomas Jefferson, we don't get a solid impression of his views on the major political issues of his day. This talk by Upper Iowa historian Meghan Mettler is designed to shed some light on Hamilton's views on the constitution, federal versus local power, and his touted financial plans. Come judge for yourself how the historical Hamilton compares to the musical version.
