It's Not Tyranny We Deisre: Alexander Hamilton, Elightenment, and Life in 18th Century America

Until recently, Alexander Hamilton was best known for his portrait on the $10 bill and being killed in a duel with Aaron Burr.  Thanks in large part to the musical about him, many of us now know Hamilton was so much more.  An ambitious, hard worker and administrative genius, he had immense and lasting influence on American politics.  He even managed to marry into one of New York’s wealthiest families no small accomplishment for the illegitimate son of a Caribbean trader!  So, what was life in the 18th Century like for Hamilton that he could dare to dream, let alone try to accomplish the impossible?  What let him challenge the status quo and rise to positions of power?  Join historian Kathy Wilson as she looks at the forces that shaped Hamilton’s world, and allowed him to help make history.
