Programs
The Oelwein Public Library offers programs to further the library's mission to serve the needs of the community.
Special Programs: November 2026
Bling Your Book
Monday, November 9th from 6-8:00 p.m.
Join us in the library’s meeting room for a dazzling event where you can transform a book that needs some flair! Let’s add a fabulous sparkle to your bookshelf!
Don’t have a book of your own? No worries! We will have a few selections available for you to choose from. If time permits, you can even add some bling to a bookmark.
Participant Limit is 15. Please register with the library in person or by calling 319-283-1515.
Registration deadline is Friday, November 6th
Book Bedazzling Tips:
- Choose books with larger font sizes for the title
- Select a focal point to incorporate a touch of sparkle rather than the whole cover.
(There will not be enough time to bedazzle your complete book cover.)
Early Out Snack Making
Wednesday, November 11th at 2:30 p.m.
Learn to make simple snacks without using a stove or microwave. We will be using peanut butter and dairy products! Please take note if you are sensitive to either of these products!
Make an edible turkey to take home.
Ornament Woodcarving Class with Steve Russell
Saturday, November 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Carve your own Christmas ornament. Class is limited to 6 people and they must be 16 years old. Cost is $30.00, all supplies provided. Pre-register and payment required to hold your spot. An afternoon class is possible if the morning class fills and there is enough interest.
Care Chats: Comparing Hospice and Palliative Care
Tuesday, November 17th from 6-7:00 p.m.
“Hospice care” and “palliative care” are two phrases often used interchangeably – and while they are similar, it’s important to know the difference. Join Cedar Valley Hospice’s Sara Davis, RN, and Annika Wall as they compare these important – but different – services.
Receive a punch card. Participants joining 4 or more of the CareChats monthly programs, October through March, will enter a drawing for a prize basket.
