This group gathers in the library's meeting room for discussion. Everyone welcome.

Join us in our love of books!
We’ll provide a reading suggestion for each month. You pick your own book to read.

Oelwein Reads

This new Community Book Club will meet quarterly in Ampersand’s fireplace room located at 110 S. Frederick Avenue in Oelwein. The focus will be on books about Iowa or the Midwest. This month the book club will meet on March 28, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.  The book selected is The Diary of Elisabeth Koren 1853-1855  translated & edited by David T. Nelson. The library will Interlibrary Loan more copies for interested patrons. 

 

Brief summary of this book:
It is the diary of a young woman from Norway whose husband answers the call to be the first
frontier minister west of the Mississippi near Decorah, Iowa.
