Smart Basic Bike Care
Saturday, September 26th from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

How to Keep your bike rolling.

Join us at the library on Saturday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m.
Watch demonstrations on cleaning & lubing a bike chain, changing a flat tire, patching a tube and truing a wheel.
Our presenters may not be experts, but they are knowledgeable bike enthusiasts eager to share their insights. This informational program welcomes individuals of all ages.

Paper Quilled Snowflake
Thursday, October 1st at 1:30 p.m.

Learn the art of paper quilling. Get a jump start on your holiday decorating. This quilled Snowflake will make a lovely addition to your Christmas tree.  White paper snowflake made from curled paper
Emily Mallory will lead this class. Emily's lifelong interest in quilling and other paper arts led to the opening of Emily's Papercrafts in 2011. She has taught countless paper crafting classes. Emily resides in Kansas with her husband and four children. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

 

Iowa Scenic Views By Foot
Tuesday, October 13th at 6:00 p.m.

Since 2015, Tyler has been exploring Iowa by visiting all 99 counties, with 98 completed and plans for the last in 2027. He’s challenged himself to run at least a mile in every incorporated city, totaling 1,313 cities so far. This journey has deepened his appreciation for Iowa's people, history, and landscapes through conversations, museum visits, local cafés, and festivals.
He is passionate about preserving Iowa's history. He operates the Facebook page "Iowa's Scenic Views By Foot," where he shares photos and stories from his travels, documenting the unique aspects of each county. His goal is to highlight Iowa's beauty and the stories that make it special.
Tyler is writing 99 books—one for each county—covering local museums, history, and personal experiences. He has five completed and plans to work on more during the fall and winter.

Let’s Talk About Hospice Care

Hospice care is for more than your final days. Join Annika Wall of Cedar Valley Hospice as we discuss the truth about hospice, the support it provides both the patient and family and the reason why patients and families say “I wish we had called sooner.”

Hosted by the Oelwein Public Library | Education Provided by Cedar Valley Hospice – the area’s only 5-star hospice.

Receive a punch card. Participants joining 4 or more of the CareChats monthly programs, October through March, will enter a drawing for a prize basket.

Paranormal Investigators
Tuesday, October 20th at 6:00 p.m.

Enjoy a haunting evening at the library with Heartland Truth Seekers.

Heartland Truth Seekers is a paranormal investigation group that began conducting investigations in 2001, driven by a passion for exploring the unknown and seeking answers to the unexplained.  For more that two decades this group has investigated reported haunted locations across the U.S. documenting evidence and finding answers to the question: Is there life after death? Heartland Truth Seekers approaches each investigation with an open mind and a respect for the location while keeping the experience fun. The group loves to share past experiences with others curious about the paranormal.
